According to to the CDC, in Indiana alone, 1,840 people died as a result of overdose in 2017. That is up 18% compared to 2016. Senator Donnelly has been a great advocate for more funding and resources to better equip the men and women who are on the front line providing prevention and treatment to those who desperately need it. Senator Donnelly's provisions to combat the opioid abuse epidemic have now been signed into law. The document “Substance Use Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities ACT”, was signed into law by the President of the United States on October 24, 2018.
